Dorothy Gaters - IHSA

Coach Gaters discusses her involvement with the Chicago Public League and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) during her 40+ year career teaching and coaching girls basketball at Marshall High School in Chicago. Her teams have won 1,084 games, eight state championships, and were in the top four at the state tournament twenty times. In addition, Coach Gaters helped coach the Jr. Olympics team and was selected for the 2009 Naismith Hall of Fame, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (Knoxville, TN), and was named as one of the top 100 Influential Women of Chicago. She has been selected over seven times as Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.
